Cruise Lines Are Partnering with Signature Chefs
Celebrity Cruises started a major trend in cruising in 1989. One that has rapidly gained popularity and has become an important strategy in the marketing of cruises. French born master chef Michel Roux, awarded the Meilleur Ouvrier de France for patisserie in 1972 and an honorary OBE alongside his brother in 2002, partnered with Celebrity Cruises to raise the bar for cruise restaurants in the cruising industry. This year Michel Roux has amicably ended his affiliation with the Celebrity brand. He will be assisting Celebrity with the transition into its new and yet unannounced culinary future.

Following in the success of Celebrity, Cunard has opened a restaurant branded by Todd English on the QM2 and will also open a Todd English restaurant on their soon to be launched Queen Victoria. Carnival Cruises has teamed with French master chef Georges Blanc in their specialty dining rooms. Crystal Cruises is partnering with celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa who oversees their Japanese fusion restaurant Silk Road and also with uber-celebrity Wolfgang Puck who offers selections found at his popular restaurant Chinois.

Holland America Line has long been regarded as a cruise line with exquisite cuisine. On all of its cruises passengers are invited to join classes taught by Holland America Line master chefs and staff in an amazing enrichment program at their on-board Culinary Arts Center. Cruisers can watch star chefs demonstrate their culinary secrets, sample fine wines and fraternize with the masters and mingle with other on-board food lovers.
On select cruises HAL invites signature chefs, celebrity authors of cookbooks, wine experts, chocolatiers and other experts in the culinary arts to demonstrate their talents in HAL’s demonstration kitchens in their amazing Culinary Arts Center.
